We Say good-bye to Bella

We say good-bye to our Bella......

Many of you will remember Gypsy (renamed to Bella) that GSRBC took in from the MR SPCA after her owner was moved to a care facility. When we went to meet her, we were stunned to see her size. A whopping 140lbs!!! She could barely walk!
I had called my good friend Liz, who has already adopted from us in the past, and asked her if she would be open to fostering Bella and helping her to become healthy again.
Liz didn't bat an eye, she left immediately to meet us at the shelter. It took 4 of us to get Bella into her car, and the danger was her getting back out and not breaking her legs in the process....
They managed well, and within a few months, Liz knew that Bella was home to stay and adopted her into their family. She took on major expenses as we learned soon after that Bella had cancer in her front paw. They took the toe and all seemed clear, but she would have to be tested continuously for the next year.
Within that time, Bella lost a major 60lbs due to Liz's preservation. Bella was finally able to run and play :)
Bella remained clear of cancer until early this month. A new cancer, very aggressive in nature had spread through out her body.
Liz tried her best to keep Bella comfortable and pain free, but yesterday Bella could fight no more and was laid to rest with her heart broken family around her.

GSRBC sends our heartfelt condolences to Bella's family. Thank you so much for your great big hearts and loving Bella so well.
